Focus and Scope

Musabab: Journal of Islamic Law and Social Practice focuses on the study of Islamic law (fiqh and uṣūl al-fiqh) and its dynamic interaction with social practices in contemporary contexts. Musabab is dedicated to advancing critical, analytical, and interdisciplinary research that examines how Islamic legal principles are formulated, interpreted, and implemented within diverse social realities.

The journal provides an academic platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to explore both normative and empirical dimensions of Islamic law. It encourages studies that engage classical Islamic legal traditions while also addressing contemporary legal challenges faced by Muslim societies at local, national, and global levels. Particular attention is given to the practical application of Islamic law in social life, institutional settings, and public policy.

The scope of Musabab Journal includes, but is not limited to: 

  • Islamic jurisprudence and legal theory

  • Islamic family law, including marriage, divorce, inheritance, and gender issues

  • Islamic criminal law and human rights discourse

  • Islamic economic and financial law (Islamic banking, fintech, zakat, and waqf)
